Yeah, I know: "with dog," right? Only it's a play on words. Allow me to elaborate further...
For those of you familiar with YouTube (a site featuring videos of various topics), someone is using the medium to release a short feature cooking series and guess what? Dog isn't the ingredient- he is the host! Francis, a French Poodle, hosts every video which teaches the viewer how to cook Japanese meals (one meal per video since each video is about 5 minutes in length). An excellent mix of humor and instruction keeps even the most contemporary attention span glued just long enough to learn how to make something simple and amazingly delicious (yes, sometimes acquired tastes apply, but substitutions often work in a pinch). Ingeniously, a recipe is also provided in the info area to the right of the video for those curious enough to want to try any of the recipes on video. I gave them a "Stumble" and I was glad to find I wasn't the first to do so. I think you might enjoy their videos as well, if for nothing more than sheer entertainment value.

i would like to add that this process makes use of red phosphorus, which is safe. however the action that results in the smoke converts the red phosphorus into white phosphorus, which is noted as being toxic. i have no information that such trace amounts used in this trick would be harmful, except i would be hesitant to repeat it on a regular basis as it could prove to become harmful...

back-words... interesting movie...
*** i'm not sure if this movie is available online anymore. at one point, i was the only seeder from the site where i had acquired it and then something happened to my seed. even though my external hard drive died last year, i did manage to burn the movie to dvd prior to that incident so i technically still have a copy- actually two; i have both pal and ntsc formats, so if anyone wants a copy of an avant-garde flick, give me a holler if you can't find it anywhere online and i will set up a torrent somewhere.

interesting movie...
below is an infosheet i doctored up regarding the digital film "filter" by anders weberg.
you have to acquire it online via various (pirate bay, for example) torrent sources.
dont worry, its free and intended by the creator to be spread that way.
i think it was worth watching simply because of the concept.
make to get the right codec for your player or you wont get sound...
enjoy...
P2P Art - The aesthetics of being ephemeral.
http://www.p2p-art.com
Art made for and only available on the peer to peer networks.
The original artwork is first shared by the artist until one other user has downloaded it.
After that the artwork will be available for as long as other users share it.
The original file and all the material used to create it are deleted by the artist.
There's no original.
P2P Art is an art project from Swedish media artist and filmmaker Anders Weberg.
Filter is a 73 minute experimental non-linear film made by Anders Weberg.
http://www.andersweberg.com
"Filter is fully based on the emotions that I experienced in the beginning of 2006 when I woke up one night and found my son unconscious on the floor.
A couple of minutes passed until I could bring him back.
The fear and desperation I felt during this time is what the film is all about."
-Anders Weberg
This film and all the files used creating it was deleted 9/15/06.
There's no original.
Feel free to download the film, watch it, and share it for as long as you like.
Or delete it immediately- the aesthetics of being ephemeral.

Filter [2006] by Anders Weberg P2P-ART.com (XviD avi)
Released: 9/15/06
Runtime: 73 min
Genre: experimental film
Codec: XviD
Size: 699MB
Video and Sound: Anders Weberg
"This is a bold and interesting move on the part of the film-maker, putting trust in the work and the power of those sharing files via peer to peer networks such as BitTorrent.
It is at once a meditation on the ephemeral nature of art, and a blind leap of faith."
-Michael Pick
"How P2P Networks Are Transforming the Creative Landscape"
"So the guy really is a true P2P artist. His artwork lives and dies according to the whims and desires of the P2P community.
Who knew that we had our very own art gallery in the wild-west that is P2P?
While we weren't looking somebody hung a painting over the saloon piano and it is now slowly being noticed for what it means and represents."

interesting...
http://www.break.com/index/door_to_door_atheists_bother_mormons.html
i feel this was interesting for a number of reasons. first of all, its pretty funny. a man bothered by the way part of society bothers him effectively turns the coin on the other side. moreover, he has several very valid points.
a lot of people are falsely under the impression that it is ok to go around and discuss religion, politics, or business at any hour when all of these subjects are very sensitive in nature to a lot of people.
some people are very firm in which beliefs they choose to integrate into their lives and it is not always acceptable to be coerced into something different.
just because a person believes in something different from another person does not make them wrong, evil, or inappropriate. it is ok, when mutually agreed, to discuss different ideas of importance.
it is inappropriate, however, to physically abuse another person for any reason. if you cant handle something different, that does not give you license to haul off and deck some poor bastard. just walk away.
science is not a religion and the fact that a man suggests the theory of evolution as an alternative to divine intervention is just that- an alternative. perhaps it is true, perhaps not. it is good to examine all possibilities before remaining steadfast to one single belief til the day you die. this includes examining various religions, philosophies, and science. leave no stone unturned before making a final judgment. once you have made a final choice, then be a good person and cast no stones upon your fellow man.
what is right for you may not be right for some, cuz it takes diff'rent strokes to move the world. i know what i believe in and what is right for me, but im not going to make other people be that way. it would not be right to impose myself. that does not mean i cannot share my views of what is right for me, but i shouldnt go around converting people to my line of thinking.
so my last thought is dont abuse those who are different from you- they may not know any better, or perhaps they do. if it is not the right time for you to discuss something, say that you would rather not discuss it or that you will discuss it later. til next time, take care of yourselves and each other...

charming...
halloween is one of my favorite holidays. as the season changes and autumn comes, so do the vibrant colors of the leaves and the crispness in the air. it fills me with exhilarated anticipation of various delights that may lie ahead. i also remember the joy-filling interests of my childhood, such as cartoon specials, stories, games, and activities. one of my favorite things to do was going to select a pumpkin to turn into a jack-o-lantern. now as an adult, some of these interests fade or take on twisted aspects, which leads me to this video i stumbled upon entitled "the life and death of a pumpkin." kudos to the creator and the cinematography. its a great mix of old and new concepts.

this is a very heavy subject that some just cant get their head around. it is definitive across the board in terms of what defines music, creativity, constitutional laws, and what the riaa essentially tries to do to djs and musicians alike. this is serious food for thought...
