back-words... interesting movie...

*** i'm not sure if this movie is available online anymore. at one point, i was the only seeder from the site where i had acquired it and then something happened to my seed. even though my external hard drive died last year, i did manage to burn the movie to dvd prior to that incident so i technically still have a copy- actually two; i have both pal and ntsc formats, so if anyone wants a copy of an avant-garde flick, give me a holler if you can't find it anywhere online and i will set up a torrent somewhere.

interesting movie...
below is an infosheet i doctored up regarding the digital film "filter" by anders weberg.
you have to acquire it online via various (pirate bay, for example) torrent sources.
dont worry, its free and intended by the creator to be spread that way.
i think it was worth watching simply because of the concept.
make to get the right codec for your player or you wont get sound...
enjoy...

P2P Art - The aesthetics of being ephemeral.
http://www.p2p-art.com

Art made for and only available on the peer to peer networks.
The original artwork is first shared by the artist until one other user has downloaded it.
After that the artwork will be available for as long as other users share it.
The original file and all the material used to create it are deleted by the artist.
There's no original.

P2P Art is an art project from Swedish media artist and filmmaker Anders Weberg.
Filter is a 73 minute experimental non-linear film made by Anders Weberg.
http://www.andersweberg.com

"Filter is fully based on the emotions that I experienced in the beginning of 2006 when I woke up one night and found my son unconscious on the floor.
A couple of minutes passed until I could bring him back.
The fear and desperation I felt during this time is what the film is all about."
-Anders Weberg

This film and all the files used creating it was deleted 9/15/06.
There's no original.
Feel free to download the film, watch it, and share it for as long as you like.
Or delete it immediately- the aesthetics of being ephemeral.

Info-
Filter [2006] by Anders Weberg P2P-ART.com (XviD avi)
Released: 9/15/06
Runtime: 73 min
Genre: experimental film
Codec: XviD
Size: 699MB
Video and Sound: Anders Weberg

"This is a bold and interesting move on the part of the film-maker, putting trust in the work and the power of those sharing files via peer to peer networks such as BitTorrent.
It is at once a meditation on the ephemeral nature of art, and a blind leap of faith."
-Michael Pick
"How P2P Networks Are Transforming the Creative Landscape"

"So the guy really is a true P2P artist. His artwork lives and dies according to the whims and desires of the P2P community.
Who knew that we had our very own art gallery in the wild-west that is P2P?
While we weren't looking somebody hung a painting over the saloon piano and it is now slowly being noticed for what it means and represents."

new album...

Hey there,
I just wanted to let you know I have released a new album through Amduscias Records. It’s called Recycled Sound. I hope you all will enjoy it. The common flavor throughout this album is ambient. This work fuses the elements of multiple genres together in a variety of combinations. You will hear layers of ambient, spoken word, and avant-garde combined in various ways. I like to fuse elements of various genres together to make new conceptual sounds that you may find thought provoking, not unlike scoring you might hear accompanying a movie or other visual presentations. The theme of this album is historical speeches and sound bites set to musical patterns which are interpretations of the mood evoked from the various speeches. As usual, I have provided front and back cover art in case you wish to burn a cd so you can have the complete album as it was intended. Thank you for your continued support.

new album available for download...

Hey there,
I just wanted to let you know that a new album has just been released through Amduscias Records. It’s called Chernobyl. I hope you all will enjoy it. The common flavor throughout this album is ambient, plus a couple surprises. This work fuses many elements together in a variety of combinations. You will hear layers of ambient, avant-garde, industrial, and noise combined in various ways. A lot of it will drone and be very dark. I felt the subject begged to remind the listener just how disturbing the incident was. In other words, I fuse elements of various genres together to make new conceptual sounds that you may find thought provoking, not unlike scoring you might hear accompanying a movie or other visual presentation. Also, you will notice this album’s theme- the nuclear disaster that occurred over 20 years ago in Chernobyl. It is a serious situation that continues to exist; a situation that affected animals, plants, and people of all ages; a situation that still needs to be covered up, literally. All the flawed theories, accusations, and blame in the world won’t fix it, nor will a cover- a cover, which caused me to do a lot of reading, picture viewing, and research- a story which should never be forgotten, not by anyone. They say history repeats itself. All of mankind would be fools to let this happen again. As dark as these tracks may be, as dark as the feelings within the words, none of it is as dark as what happened. Remember that… As usual, I have provided front and back cover art in case you wish to burn a cd so you can have the complete album as it was intended. Thank you for your continued support.

You can download my new album for free here:

P.S. I have not yet decided whether to sell this album. I do not want to exploit a disaster, but rather bring about awareness. If I do sell this album, the proceeds will go to a charity. If you would like to donate to a charity, here is a list of organizations all over the world: http://www.belarusguide.com/chernobyl1/chlist.htm
