my thoughts on informants...
i dont know if informants are just wannabe narcs, if theyre really trying to do the right thing, or if theyve been given the shaft so theyre taking the world down with them. regardless, in a raving community, not only is such behavior not very plurry, but its outright hypocritical.

its bad enough to think i have a hypocrite in my community, but in my opinion its deeply unsettling to think i have an informant lurking in my midst, just waiting to report someone doing something wrong.

if you are in the rave community, then most likely you have been to a rave and paid to listen to djs spin records that bare the instruction: no public performance. yes it is copyright infringement, but we support it. why? because we want to hear it, because we love it, because djs what to share it... so why would a raver then turn around a report someone sharing works online, esp when half of them were dead works? it doesnt really make sense does it, to support copyright infringement one way and not another? seems hypocritical, doesnt it? yeah, i think so, too.

this brings me to my other thought. what if the informant isnt a hypocrite? what if there is a wolf in sheep's clothing in our midst? thats rather unsettling isnt it? that would mean you have no safe haven because someone could be monitoring your every move, just waiting to nail you for something wrong. how disturbing is that? sounds like orwell's 1984 at large and in effect...

based on an experience i had recently, i would say however that i was reported by a hypocritical raver, as i was reported to the artist and usually narcs have no idea how to reach artists, nor do they care. so i would like to offer my special informer a big middle finger as well as my thanks for putting me in touch with someone whom i do respect, because i could never respect a hypocrite...
